Lower School Teacher (1st and 2nd Grade)

Job Title: Grades 1 or 2 Lower School Teacher

Overview: We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated teacher to join our classical education community as a Grades 1 and 2 Teacher. Responsibilities:

Curriculum Implementation:

• Deliver the Hillsdale curriculum that aligns with the school's mission and values for students in Grades 1 and 2.

• Create and execute developmentally appropriate lesson plans that engage young learners in active and meaningful ways.

Literacy and Numeracy Development:

• Foster early literacy and numeracy skills through a variety of engaging activities and strategies, utilizing the Literacy Essentials curriculum

• Utilize differentiated instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of young students.

Character Education:

• Integrate character development into daily lessons, emphasizing virtues and ethical principles.

• Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes kindness, respect, and cooperation.

Parent Communication:

• Maintain regular communication with parents or guardians, providing updates on student progress and classroom activities.

• Collaborate with parents to support the holistic development of each child. Assessment and Feedback:

• Implement formative and summative assessments to gauge student understanding and growth.

• Provide constructive and timely feedback to students and parents.

Classroom Management:

• Establish and maintain effective classroom management strategies suitable for early elementary students.

• Create a safe and supportive learning space that encourages exploration and curiosity.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Education with a focus on early childhood education, or equivalent classical education experience.

• Previous experience teaching Grades 1 and 2, or equivalent classical teaching experience.

• Passion for and understanding of classical education principles.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• Willingness to take on additional responsibilities in order to grow in both personal career aspirations and Liberty Academy as a whole.
